You might probably have some thoughts going around in your mind that you are using in getting yourself employed. You might not know that these thoughts are actually just job hunting myths. I have compiled three job hunting myths for the purpose of letting you know so that you would be able to focus more on getting a job without straying from the right methods. 1. First in our list is the job search using online job boards. Online job boards are a great source for job opportunities. You might have another opinion regarding this. However, you need to keep in mind that these online job ads are only able to help just about 3 percent of job seekers. Most people looking for jobs who fall into the trap of searching for jobs using online employment ads and even applying to them. There you will find increased competition, increased frustration and increased time out of work. 2. The second in our job hunting myths list is trusting on recruitment agencies to get employed. Yes, they can offer help but you have to think that employers hire them to hire people like you. It is also true that they are deeply connected to companies who would hire. The downside, however, is that you may be able to maximize the payment that is meant for you. This is because what the employer will pay you already includes the payment they will give to the recruitment agency. That means that the wage offered to you by the employer will still be deducted. I am sure that you would agree that you do not want to spend on something that you know you can live without. 3. Only younger people can make use of social networking sites is the third on our list of job hunting myths. This is definitely false. If you look closely into how things work in the internet, you will find that more and more older people and not only the young ones are making use of social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter to look for employment. You have to realize that companies are also using these sites to find a pool of skilled workers without discriminating on age. Use of social networking does not ask you for any payment. You also do not need to exert a lot of effort in presenting yourself to employers because you already have your profile up for viewing. When you are on a job search, you do not have to just focus on conventional methods. You have to make use of available media to optimize your potential of getting employed. You have to study the business, make use of online tools and showcase yourself to employers. Do not fall victim to doing job hunting myths.
