In today's economy there are many more married couples with children who must live apart to make ends meet. The need to find jobs wherever they may be, has made long distance relationships quite common place. It is now a normal part of our society, but sadly some people have a great deal of trouble dealing with the difficulty of maintaining a long distance relationship. These relationships have their own issues for you to deal with. Anyone who has ever been in a long distance relationship for any period, could tell you that. The lack of physical intimacy makes it difficult for a couple to save a marriage from falling apart. For some people this daily contact can be a very crucial part of a relationship. If anyone has been in a long distance relationship for any period of time, they could tell you that these relationships have their own issues for you to deal with. Finding time and money to be together can be another problem that must be faced and becomes even more difficult when there are children in the family. The extra burden that is placed on the main caregiver of the children, can be very stressful and although married, for all intents and purposes that person is a single parent for most of the time. All these things can add to the stress and strain on a relationship which, in turn, makes it hard to remember why the couple were together in the first place. Although its not easy to save a marriage from this enormous pressure, there are several exercises that can be done to help minimize the risk factors. One thing a couple can do is to accept the limitations placed on their relationship. Knowing you won't be together for anniversaries, birthdays and special moments such as baby's first steps and accepting it, will go a long way to feeling that all will be well. You can talk about ways to keep the love alive even though you are apart and how you will go about it. Flowers, phone calls and even spending time with each other over the webcam, can save a marriage and help keep your relationship on track.
