The Solution: Panic Attack Cures

By: Charlene Nelson

Your chest tightens and it is hard to breathe, your eyes widen and your pulse accelerates. These are all familiar symptoms that panic attack patients go through. But, is there a remedy for panic attacks or even simple tips that can lessen the symptoms?

The best way to find a remedy for these symptoms is to figure out the nature of anxiety attacks. Let us begin at the very beginning. Each and every person has their own set of fears. In early childhood, it comes in the appearance of bogey men under the bed or demons and phantoms that visit night time dreams. Teenagers have experienced being anxious on their first day of school or before a presentation in front of their class.

But is fear really outgrown?

No, anxiety does not end when one grows up. Sure, adults are no longer scared of witches like in early days, but anxiety takes on another look. Fear with adults is mostly caused when one values are threatened like: losing your employment, a family member becomes ill, etc. Insecurity may in addition produce anxiety like: an important presentation, a work interview. In these circumstances, people may feel vulnerable and may react to this sensing of not being in control by having a panic attack.

Can something be done?

Anxiety attacks are a cry for help, a signal of despair. To avoid these anxiety attacks, the first thing you must do is to prevent yourself to attain the tipping point of desperation. A lot of people refuse to give vent to their feelings and keep them inside until they are all pent up and set to burst out. It is okay to say how you feel. It is okay to feel aggravated or to cry. Speak to others regarding the way you feel. Giving vent to your emotions will help you let some of the stress go and keep you from having an anxiety attack.

One more suggestion is to give yourself some time out, whenever you feel like your stress levels are reaching boiling point At any time you feel like your stress levels are getting close to steaming point, give yourself a break. Do something that will help you to relax. This can range from having a bubble bath to doing some yoga, getting a massage or boxing. Sip some camomile tea (a well-known antidote to stress). When you already are having an attack, remember yourself to take breaths. Take deep, even breaths in and out. Get yourself a glass of water and sip gradually. And call anybody for help.

Finally, it is good to keep in mind that what you are going through or feeling at the moment will go by. It will vanish bit by bit. Just like your childhood anxieties of bogey men dissipated in the morning, so will the issues of today fade in the future. Of course, your issues might not sort themselves out in a day, but remember that Rome was not built in a day either. Keep yourself optimistic and positive. And, most importantly, surround yourself with loving and compassionate people who will help you throughout your toughest times. This, alongside with keeping positive, relaxing and giving vent to your feelings will cure any panic attack that might threaten to overcome you.
